The Five Solas
These five truths that are central to the Bible and professed by the Reformers in the 16th century were near and dear to Corey's heart. These truths embodied Corey's doctrine, worship, and all of his life.
Sola Scriptura
The Bible teaches all that is necessary for our salvation from sin and is the standard by which all behavior must be measured. It is the sole source of God revealing Himself to humanity.
Solus Christus
This sola affirms that salvation is accomplished for all who believe by the Biblical Christ alone. His sinless life and His substitutionary death on the cross alone is what makes it possible to stand before God righteous.
Sola Gratia
By God's grace alone, or His unmerited favor, we are rescued from His wrath to come; the due penalty of sin. God's salvation is in no way a human work, but the Holy Spirit brings us to Jesus Christ by releasing us from our bondage to sin and raising us from spiritual death to spiritual life.
Sola Fide
It is by grace you have been saved, through faith. This is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. When we are made right before God, it is by grace alone, through faith alone, because of Christ alone. We are received by the Beloved not by church attendance, baptism, patriotism, or our moral decency, but by faith alone.
Soli Deo Gloria
Glory to God alone. These truths filled Corey's life and his heart. They gave him a zeal for the things of God and those who are still lost in their sin. He had a deep knowledge of the Truth, defended sound doctrine, and encouraged sound teaching. Corey is a blessed man now face to face with the Christ he loved so much, where now to the fullest measure possible, he gives glory to God.
